  • Mortar and pestle (optional)*

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 recipes of hummus
  • 250 grams ground beef
  • 100 grams onion, minced
  • 1 large garlic cloves, mashed
  • ¼ teaspoon 7 spices powder*
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon*
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper*
  • ¼ teaspoon salt*
  • ¼ cup olive oil,, plus 2 tablespoons for frying the nuts (optional)
  • ¼ cup pine nuts or almonds (optional)*

Instructions:

  1. Make the hummus according to the previous recipe.
  2. Heat the skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oil and ground beef. Cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until browned all over.
  3. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the 7 spice powder, cinnamon, black pepper, and salt to the skillet. Stir to combine.
  5. Cook for another minute or two, until the spices are fragrant.
  6. If using, fry the almonds or pine nuts in the additional olive oil until golden.
  7. To serve, spread the hummus on a serving platter. Top with the meat mixture and pine nuts, if using.
  8. Serve with bread, vegetables, etc.

Tips:

  • You can use diced beef instead of ground beef if you prefer. Just cut the beef into small pieces and cook it until browned all over.
  • For a spicier dish, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the meat mixture.
